Running a stake pool

The following is a list of guides and resources I found useful in creating my stake pool [ANVIL].

I was going to write my own guide on how to create and operate a pool but honestly, these guides are written so well that I highly doubt there is anything I can add to improve them.

Just be aware that running a stake pool is not a get-rich-quick scheme. At the time of writing the number of pools are in excess of 2000 so competition is fierce. Only consider it if you are ready to work hard and put in a substantial amount of time and money.

Here is an excellent blog post written by VITAL pool detailing what is involved in running a pool. Give it a read and if by the end of it you are still interested you can use the below resources as a starting point.

  • Main guide I personally used in setting up my pool

  • Extra sections on the basics of running a pool including securing your pool

  • Well written but some mistakes which can make it hard for people who want to just copy and paste

Guild Operators - CNTOOLS

  • Excellent site with explanations on how to set up a pool using a tool (CNTOOLS) to help automate most of the routine procedures you need to run a pool

  • Personally, I have not used this site much as I wanted to learn more firsthand how to run a pool and build everything manually.

  • I will be looking at this more once I get my testnet back up and running

EDEN POOL - Youtube videos

  • Series of youtube videos by the operator of EDEN pool with detailed explanations on how to create and maintain a stake pool

  • Be aware that some of the older videos are outdated and need to be updated for recent versions of cardano-cli / cardano-node commands
